CIVIL FOREMAN — EXCAVATIONS Calgary, AB | $42-$45/hr | Permanent, Full-Time

THE OPPORTUNITY
Our client is expanding their foreman team in Calgary and looking to add to their crew of eight. The work spans water & sewer, excavation, earthworks, and demolition — steady, varied, and year-round. If you're a working foreman who leads from the front and knows how to keep a crew on track, this is a solid opportunity with a company that has consistent work and a strong pipeline.

ABOUT OUR CLIENT
A well-established civil contractor in Southern Alberta with an active portfolio of municipal and private sector projects across Calgary. They have a strong team culture, experienced leadership, and the project backlog to keep crews busy all year.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead a civil construction crew day-to-day on excavation, water & sewer, earthworks, and demolition projects
  • Read and interpret civil drawings, grade sheets, and project specifications
  • Coordinate daily work plans with the Superintendent and Project Manager
  • Ensure safe work practices are followed on site in accordance with Alberta OHS regulations
  • Monitor production and ensure work is completed on schedule and to specification
  • Liaise with inspectors, utility locators, and other trades on site
  • Complete daily reports, pre-task plans, and timesheets
  • Mentor and develop crew members
  • Hands-on involvement in the work as required — this is a working foreman role
WHAT YOU BRING
  • 5+ years in civil construction — excavation, underground utilities, or earthworks
  • Proven experience leading crews as a foreman or lead hand
  • Ability to read civil drawings and work to grade
  • Valid driver's licence (Class 3 or 1 an asset)
  • OFA Level 1, Fall Protection, Confined Space, WHMIS — current certifications preferred
  • NCSO or Traffic Control an asset
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to manage people firmly but fairly
  • Comfortable working across a variety of project types in a fast-moving environment
