Construction Surveyor Greater Toronto Area, ON Salary: $60,000 - 80,000
SSA Recruitment is currently recruiting on behalf of
our client for an experienced
Construction Surveyor to join their growing construction team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a survey professional with experience on
Ontario-based construction projects who enjoys working in a collaborative site environment and wants to play a key role in delivering complex construction projects.
Responsibilities As the Construction Surveyor, you will be responsible for ensuring construction activities are completed accurately and in accordance with project drawings, specifications, and contract requirements. Working closely with Project Managers, Site Superintendents, and field teams, your responsibilities will include:
- Establishing horizontal and vertical control points for excavation and construction activities.
- Performing site layout and staking for walls, utilities, roads, structures, and other key project components.
- Interpreting engineered drawings, site plans, and 3D models to transfer accurate layout information to the field.
- Collecting survey data using Total Stations, GPS equipment, and 3D scanning technology.
- Performing as-built surveys to verify completed work complies with project drawings and specifications.
- Supporting earthwork calculations, including cut and fill analysis.
- Monitoring project progress and verifying site conditions throughout construction.
- Maintaining accurate survey records and documentation.
- Working safely while complying with all health, safety, and environmental requirements.
- Collaborating with Project Managers, Site Superintendents, consultants, subcontractors, and field personnel to support successful project delivery.
Qualifications The successful candidate will possess
(Must-haves):
- Previous experience as a Construction Surveyor on Ontario construction projects.
- Strong understanding of construction drawings, engineered plans, grading, and site layout.
- Experience operating Total Stations, GPS survey equipment, and/or 3D scanning technology.
- Experience completing as-built surveys and construction verification.
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative site environment.
