SENIOR DEVELOPMENT MANAGER
POSITION DESCRIPTION
Reporting to the EVP of Development, the Senior Development Manager will lead planning activities required for
multiple residential and commercial projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for various activities,
including:
• Managing development projects at each stage from land acquisition, to rezoning, to building permits and
registration.
• Liaising with various municipalities/ approval bodies and stakeholders
• Overseeing development coordinators/junior development manager
• Coordinating with in-house legal, design, and civil
• Managing submission materials and coordinating appropriate consultants for all development application
processes (e.g. OPA/ZBA, SPA, Committee of Adjustment, Building Permits, Draft Plan of Condominium)
• Working collaboratively with sales & marketing in the lead-up to sales launches in preparation of
Condominium Disclosure Documents as well as amending documents throughout the project life cycle
• Working with Condominium Boards and Municipalities post-construction/registration to obtain Letters of
Credit reduction/release
• Conducting necessary research to expedite development projects
• Attending and coordinating all required community meetings
• Supporting in-house and external counsel with development-related appeals and litigation
REQUIREMENTS
• University degree in planning or planning-adjacent field
• RPP designation is strongly preferred
• Minimum 5 to 8 years of work experience, prior experience with a developer or municipality preferred
• Direct management experience with applications involving significant dollar amounts and scale
• Able to think creatively and strategically to successfully mediate and negotiate with individuals and groups
internally and externally.
• Familiarity with City of Toronto and City of Mississauga policy strongly preferred
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Experience with low-rise and mixed-use projects
WORK LOCATION
The head office is located in Etobicoke, Ontario. Travel to project sites and sales office(s) in the GTA is
required.
