Senior Water Resources Engineer Location: Vancouver, BC
Salary: $130,000 – $150,000 + benefits
Overview On behalf of our client, a well-established engineering consultancy in Vancouver, we are seeking a Senior Water Resources Engineer to join their growing water team.
This is a senior-level opportunity to lead the delivery of complex water resources and hydrotechnical projects across municipal infrastructure, land development, and environmental sectors. The role offers a strong mix of technical leadership, project management, and client engagement, with exposure to a diverse portfolio of projects across the Lower Mainland and Western Canada.
Key Responsibilities - Lead the planning, analysis, and design of water resources and hydrotechnical projects (stormwater management, drainage, flood risk, river engineering, and watershed studies)
- Manage projects from concept through detailed design and construction support
- Undertake and review hydrologic and hydraulic modelling (e.g., PCSWMM, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, InfoWorks ICM)
- Develop stormwater management plans, floodplain mapping, and drainage strategies
- Coordinate with municipalities, regulatory agencies, and multidisciplinary project teams
- Prepare and review technical reports, drawings, and design documentation
- Ensure compliance with local, provincial, and federal regulations and guidelines
- Mentor junior and intermediate engineers and provide technical guidance
- Support business development, proposals, and client relationship management
Requirements - Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related discipline
- P.Eng. designation in British Columbia (or eligibility to obtain)
- 8+ years of experience in water resources or hydrotechnical engineering within a consulting environment
- Strong background in stormwater management, drainage design, and hydraulic/hydrologic modelling
- Experience working on projects within BC and familiarity with local municipal standards and approval processes
- Proficiency with industry-standard modelling software (e.g., PCSWMM, HEC-RAS, InfoWorks, GIS tools)
- Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills with experience working directly with clients and stakeholders
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deliver on time and within budget
